Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Med Surg RN)
• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (06:45 AM - 07:15 PM)
• Hours per week: 36 hours
• Patient Ratio: Up to 1:7 if needed (not common)
• Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend; scheduling accommodates requested time off with makeup weekends as needed
• Floating: Will float within scope as needed
• Block Schedule: Not accommodated
• Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restriction

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• PICC line management experience
• Experience with starting IVs

Additional Requirements

• Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including national and state-specific searches, must be current within 30 days of start
• Primary source verification of license and certifications required
• Competency exam required for clinical candidates
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs scheduled/completed within 7 days of contract signing
• Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• Immunizations or documented immunity required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
• Photo for badge required before start
• References: 2 professional references required

Scheduling & Time Off

• Manager reviews and approves requests for time off based on unit schedule
• Only one winter holiday off allowed per contract
• Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay obligation; additional cancellations billed accordingly

Notes

• Fingerprinting must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start if candidate does not hold an Illinois state license
• Candidates must review and sign facility-specific documents including code of conduct and parking permit form within 7 days of contract signing
• Scrub color: any solid color

Prior Travel Experience

• First-time travel nurses accepted; prior travel experience not required
