Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: Day shift, options: 4x10 hour days (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM) or 5x8 hour days (7:30 AM - 4:00 PM) as needed
On Call: Required 1 weekday and 1 weekend every 4-6 weeks, including holidays
Job Summary
Perform endovascular procedures in the cardiac and peripheral vascular cath lab using high-technology equipment under physician supervision. Responsibilities include monitoring hemodynamic status, documenting procedures, scrubbing in to assist physicians, maintaining sterile fields, and recognizing life-threatening arrhythmias. Participate in mandatory in-services, staff meetings, and complete competency assessments on time.
Required Experience & Skills
- Experience: 1.5 to 2 years in Diagnostic Cardiology/Radiology Cath Lab settings
- Work Setting Experience Required:
- Diagnostic Cardiac Cath Lab
- Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab
- Special Procedures including diagnostic and interventional cardiology and endovascular peripheral intervention
- Preferred Experience: Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, Interventional Radiology
- Skills:
- Cardiac Cath Lab Procedures: Cardiac stent placement, diagnostic catheterizations (adult), hemodynamic monitoring, IABP placement/removal, Impella insertion, laser-assisted procedures, left and right heart catheterization, PCI, PTCA, PA line insertion, rotablader atherectomy, temporary pacemaker management
- Abdominal and Pelvic Procedures: Angioplasty, embolization, IVC filter placement, stent placement
- Vascular Studies/Procedures: Upper and lower extremity angiography
- Equipment Operation/Maintenance: PACS, Siemens devices, stock supplies
- Procedural Responsibilities: Equipment setup, prep access site, room circulator, scrub role, vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)
- Professional Knowledge: Isolation precautions, use of rapid response team
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Registered Technologist (RT) license in Radiologic Technology (R.T.(R)) required to operate fluoroscopy machines in West Virginia
- ARRT certification required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required
- BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- WV Medical Imaging License required (may submit with license pending but typically obtained 1-2 weeks before start)
- ARRT CI certification preferred
Physical Requirements
- Medium work: frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs, maximum lifting up to 50 lbs
Work Environment & Systems
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Cerner
- Scrubs provided
Additional Requirements
- Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least one prior travel contract)
- On-call duties include 1 weekday and 1 weekend every 4-6 weeks, including holidays
- Must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
- Background checks required: 7-year criminal check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification, drug screening (10 panel within 30 days of start and annually)
- Health documents required: physical exam, immunizations (including flu, COVID vaccine or declination), TB testing, and other standard healthcare vaccinations and titers
- Competency exams and facility-specific training modules must be completed prior to start
- Proof of 2 clinical references required
- Skills checklist and employment application must be submitted
- Color blindness testing required
Education
- Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in West Virginia
- Minimum 1.5 years of Cath Lab Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ARRT certification
- Prior travel experience (must have completed at least one prior travel contract)
