Operating Room RN

Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Charleston, West Virginia
• 13-week assignment
• 40 hours per week
• Evening schedule: 4x10 hours, 14:30–23:00
• On call required
• Weekend work required
• First-timers accepted if experience requirements are met

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in West Virginia
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Driver's License
• OR - Operating Room (2 years of experience)
• OR - Operating Room experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Ability to circulate
• Ability to scrub
• Experience with vein harvesting
• Experience with radial artery harvesting
• Experience with cardiovascular (CV) surgery
• Experience with vascular surgery including AV fistulas/grafts, aortic surgeries/bypasses, femoral to popliteal or distal bypasses, carotids, and embolectomies
• Experience with total joint surgery procedures
• Experience with orthopedic arthroscopies
• Experience with complex general surgery including colorectal/colon resections, laparoscopic assisted surgeries, whipples, liver resections, thyroids, and mastectomies
• Experience with ENT procedures including trachs, laryngectomies, and radical neck dissections

Schedule and Call

• 1 day of call per week
• 1–2 weekend call shifts per 4–5 week schedule
• 30-minute response time when on call

Clinical Skills

• Vascular procedures including AV fistulas/grafts, aortic surgeries/bypasses, femoral to popliteal or distal bypasses, carotids, and embolectomies
• Ortho procedures including arthroscopies and total joints
• General surgery including colorectal/colon resections, laparoscopic assisted surgeries, whipples, liver resections, thyroids, and mastectomies
• ENT procedures including trachs, laryngectomies, and radical neck dissections
• Urology procedures including cystectomies, nephrectomies, prostatectomies, various implants, and cysto-related procedures
• Robotics including gyn, colorectal, hernias, and lap nissens
• GYN procedures including abdominal/vaginal hysterectomies and posterior/anterior repairs

Facility Notes

• Short-term acute care, Level IV trauma center, major teaching hospital
• 838 staffed beds
• Scrub color: royal blue or white, or a combination of both
• Cerner and Accudose used for charting
• Free parking for travelers
