Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Travel/Contract)

Location: North Providence, Rhode Island
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend (7 weekend shifts per contract)
• Start Date: ASAP
• Experience Required: Minimum 4 years in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Required (Does NOT accept first-time travelers)

• Emergency Room (General Emergency Department - combined Adult/Pediatrics)
• Non-Trauma Emergency Department
• Stroke Certified Facility
• Community Hospital setting
• Ages newborn to 100 years
• General medical and Behavioral Health

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - preferably AHA or ARC
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - preferably AHA or ARC
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - as applicable
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable

Skills & Competencies

• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Obtain 12 lead EKG
• Blood product administration
• Phlebotomy
• Starting IVs, continuous IV paralytics, sedation, and vasopressors
• Emergency medications and procedural sedation administration
• Stroke (CVA) management
• Splint application and management
• Asthma, epiglottitis, respiratory infections, seizures, skin disorders, urinary tract infections
• Identification and reporting of abuse
• Management of acute psychosis, drug overdose, violent behavior, psychiatric holds, suicidal patients
• CPAP/BiPAP and ventilated patient care
• Isolation precautions and telemetry monitoring

• Medication System: Omnicell
• Documentation System: Medi Tech (required)
• Communication System: SBAR

Dress Code

• Scrubs: Any color

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

• Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
• Emergency Contact Form
• Background Checks including SSN Trace, County Searches, Nationwide Sex Offender, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• Fingerprinting required for Rhode Island RN licensure (new prints required for each assignment)
• Physical Exam within 1 year of start
• Immunizations and Health Documents:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or provider documentation)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
• Drug Testing: 9 Panel Drug Screen after position acceptance
• Respiratory Safety Clearance (required annually)
• References: 2 professional references for travel/allied/per diem acute care within 3 years
• Annual Skills Checklist and Competency Exams (minimum 80% passing score)
• COVID-19 religious or medical exemption forms available for booster

• This position requires prior travel experience; first-time travelers will not be accepted.
• The role involves working in a stroke-certified, non-trauma emergency department with a wide patient age range and diverse medical/behavioral health cases.
• Strong clinical skills in emergency nursing and critical care interventions are essential.
