Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Abilene, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • May be asked to float to other campus or floors; flexibility required
  • Must live within 150 miles of the facility
  • 3 years of nursing experience preferred (1st time travelers accepted)
  • Must be proficient as a circulator

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of nursing experience preferred
  • No prior travel experience required (1st time travelers accepted)

Compliance and Background Checks

  • 7-year background check required within 1 year of start; must be updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification (highest level) required
  • State-specific checks for Texas (DADS Employability Status and Employee Misconduct Registry) required within 30 days of start

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (PPD or Qgold/Tspot accepted)
  • Required vaccinations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination accepted)
    • Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); religious or medical exemptions accepted
  • Fit mask test (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S) required and must be updated annually
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start; facility drug screen upon arrival mandatory

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments prior to start (e.g., vaccination info, TB and occupational exposure, confidentiality, compliance, patient-centered pledge)
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Pass/fail testing required for telemetry nurses (if applicable)
  • Competency exams and color blindness testing as applicable
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Two professional references within 3 years required
  • Copy of resume/application required

Notes

  • Orientation modules required, approximately 3-4 hours
  • Parking available for orientation and employment with no fee
  • Candidate must be flexible and able to float to other units or campuses as needed

This position is ideal for registered nurses with at least 3 years of experience who are flexible and willing to work in a travel/contract role in Texas. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
