Job Details
- Unit: Cardiac Intermediate Care (IMC)
- Shift: Nights, 36 hours per week (typically 3 shifts of 12 hours)
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Start Dates: Multiple Tuesday or Thursday start options available
- Floating: May float within scope to Acute Care/IMC as needed
- Weekend Requirement: 4 shifts per month
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- Pending License Accepted: Yes, if application submitted and received by licensing board (qualifies for 90-day license exemption)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oregon
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Cardiac PCU (Progressive Care Unit)
- Cardiac PCU experience within the last year
- Telemetry experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA provider only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA provider only
Patient Population & Clinical Focus
- Cardiology diagnoses including ACS, NSTEMI, heart failure management, pre/post cardiac catheterization, arrhythmia management
- Electrophysiology studies (EPS), pacemaker placement, arrhythmia management
- Cardiac surgery (CABG, valve replacement, TAVR)
- Vascular surgery (amputations, fem-pop bypass)
- Advanced heart failure care including pre/post heart transplant, ventricular assist device, inotrope support
Facility & Unit Information
- Short-term acute care hospital
- Magnet designated, teaching hospital, Level I trauma center
- Charting system: Epic
- Safe patient mobilization equipment (ceiling lifts) available in most patient rooms
- Provider coverage: On-call providers 24/7; most teams have in-house providers 24/7
Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- Valid government-issued photo ID required on first day
- Background check (including education and work history verification) must be completed within 6 months prior to start
- National sex offender search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days prior to start
- Drug screen: Negative 10-panel including methamphetamines within 3 months prior to start (laboratory-based, SAMHSA certified lab)
- Physical exam not required for this position but must meet Aya Healthcare standards (within 1 year)
- Fit mask testing required within 1 year prior to start (N95 or equivalent masks)
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or signed declination forms for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Seasonal Flu (deadline December 1, 2025)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months prior to start, plus TB questionnaire
- Completion of facility-specific training modules prior to start (e.g., Compass modules for RNs)
- Professional appearance policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Two (2) manager or supervisor references from the last 24 months required (charge nurse references not accepted unless direct supervisor)
Additional Notes
- No on-call required
- Time off requests must be submitted at contract start; limited RTO days allowed (max 5 days for 13-week contract)
- Public transportation is highly encouraged; daily parking pass available at $16 (8am-5pm)
- Facility requires full availability for compliance needs up until start date
Summary
This travel RN position offers an opportunity to work nights in a high-acuity cardiac telemetry unit within a Magnet, teaching, Level I trauma hospital. The role requires at least 2 years of cardiac telemetry experience, ACLS and BLS certifications, and the ability to float within acute care/IMC units.
