Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Dothan, Alabama
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift Options:

  • 3 shifts of 12 hours (3x12)
  • 4 shifts of 12 hours (4x12) – Day shift (7:00 AM to 7:30 PM)
  • Block scheduling available based on traveler preference
• Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Up to 1:6-7
• Clinical Skills Required: Proficiency with drips including Cardizem, Tridil, Amiodarone

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Alabama
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Proficient in drips including Cardizem, Tridil, and Amiodarone
• Experience working in large healthcare facilities

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Identification: Bring valid Driver’s License matching RN license name
• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Shirley’s Law APS Clearance Form and results (time sensitive, must be completed prior to orientation)
• Education Verification: Official transcript or clearinghouse verification required
• NURSYS Verification: Required for RN license validation
• References: Proof of 2 clinical references within last 12 months (up to 18 months if necessary)
• Employment Application: Complete application or resume required
• Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually for applicable unit

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical attesting ability to meet job demands
• Drug Testing: 10-panel drug test within 90 days of start, updated annually (instant/rapid tests not accepted)
• Immunizations & Titers:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • TB Questionnaire required for all candidates
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters or declinations per policy
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
  • Flu Vaccine: Required for all placements starting on or after September 15; no declinations accepted except medical or religious exemptions on facility form (mask required if exempt)
  • COVID Vaccine: Voluntary (2 doses Pfizer/Moderna or 1 dose J&J)
• Fit Mask Testing: Annual fit test required within 12 months prior to start (specific approved mask models only)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Required only for Pediatrics unit

Orientation & Facility Specifics

• Facility Modules: Must complete assigned modules by Friday prior to start (12 PM EST) to be allowed to orient
• Badge Photo: Passport-style headshot with light background, no nose rings; must be submitted within 72 hours of signing contract
• NIH Stroke Certification: Required for all RNs except Pediatrics, NICU, and Surgery; must be current within 1 year and renewed if expiring during contract
• Core Competency Exams: Core Exams I-III from Prophecy highly preferred; HIPAA attestation required
• Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Required for all candidates

• No prior permanent employment at this facility within the last 10 years
• Must confirm address to verify 90-mile radius compliance
• Candidate must be fully pre-closed and ready to sign contract upon offer

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable managing adult to geriatric patients on telemetry with drip medications, seeking a travel contract with flexible block scheduling on day shifts.
