Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Night Shift)

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night, 4 shifts of 12 hours each (18:30 – 7:00)
• Hours per week: 48 hours (option for 36 or 48 hours)
• Float required
• Weekends as needed
• Patient population includes stroke and surgery patients
• Telemetry central monitoring tech available 24/7 (no dysrhythmia interpretation required)
• Scrub color: Any color, no logos

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in Medical Surgical or related specialty
• Current RN license valid in New Mexico with primary source verification (NURSYS verification required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP), Chemotherapy certification, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), NIH Stroke Certification, and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certifications as applicable
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with minimum passing score of 80% or Angoff score
• Color Blind Testing (online) required
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (fit test done onsite)
• Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start (medical exemptions must be approved)
• Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year of start or chest X-ray if positive history
• Required immunizations or positive titers for: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
• Valid Driver’s License or State ID

Additional Requirements

• 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, and education verification
• Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (New Mexico placements only) and must be redone for every new contract
• Education verification of highest level completed
• Completion of unit-specific skills checklist annually
• Work history verification for the past 7 years
• Completion of employment application/resume
• Photo for badge required
• Internal E-Verify and other background screenings upon hire

• References are not required for candidate clearance but may be requested internally
