Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
Location: Wichita Falls, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Evening (3 or 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 1:00 PM to 1:00 AM)
Schedule: 36/48 hour alternating schedule; facility schedules 84 hours biweekly with a 72-hour guarantee
Job Description
- Work in a high-volume, trauma-capable emergency room setting.
- Alternating schedule with guaranteed minimum hours biweekly.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
- Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year.
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
- Certifications required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course).
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale).
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required.
- Background check within 1 year of start, including SS trace, county searches for last 7 years, nationwide, and sex offender registry.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start; must have plan to complete within 72 hours of contract signing.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract.
- Immunizations and health screenings required within 72 hours of signing contract or as noted:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years.
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot) within 1 year; chest x-ray if positive PPD within 5 years.
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; exemptions apply for candidates born before 1957.
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination required.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or history of chickenpox required.
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (10/1-5/31) with possible medical/religious exemptions.
- COVID vaccination documentation required.
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references within 3 years of start.
- Resume or employment application required.
- Annual updates required for skills checklist and orientation safety manual acknowledgment.
- Facility-specific documents and acknowledgments must be completed prior to start, including parking policy and confidentiality agreements.
- Orientation and compliance training required before starting assignment.
Summary
This is a travel Registered Nurse position in an emergency room setting requiring a minimum of 1 year of recent ED experience, completion of at least one travel assignment, and multiple certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, and NIHSS. The contract is for 13 weeks with evening shifts on a 36-48 hour alternating schedule and a guaranteed minimum of 72 hours biweekly.
