Job Details

Job Description

  • Perform laboratory testing including Chemistry, Immunochemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Urinalysis, Manual Testing, Rapid Covid and Influenza tests, Manual Body Fluid and CSF cell counts and differentials, Transfusion Services, and Central Processing.
  • Work in a comprehensive clinical laboratory providing time-sensitive services to patients with various diagnoses.
  • The laboratory operates 24/7 and provides training for new staff and medical technology students.
  • Use of EMR system EPIC with recent experience/proficiency required.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Lab Technician within the last year.
  • Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent.
  • Certification by ASCP or AMT.
  • Recent experience and proficiency with EPIC EMR system.

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide check, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record if driving is required.
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required using Ohio-specific code 3701.881, must be completed within 1 year of start.
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start.
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring.
  • Education accreditation verification required immediately after contract signing.
  • Subcontractors must complete a background acknowledgement form prior to start.
  • Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required.
  • Confidential Fraud, Waste, and Abuse compliance training and reporting form required.
  • Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and signed annually.

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12) required.
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive.
  • TB questionnaire required in lieu of annual TB test renewal.
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer).
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (signed declination acceptable).
  • Varicella immunity (2 vaccines or positive titer) or documented medical exemption.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene).
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); decliners must wear a mask.
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended; proof of primary vaccination collected if available.

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership.
  • Employment application required, including education verification.
  • Skills checklist required.
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually.

Competency and Certification Exams

  • Unit-specific competency exams required.
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required for all RN/LVN candidates (not applicable here but noted for reference).
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for RNs (not applicable here).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications may be required depending on unit (not specified for this role).
