Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU

Location: Lewes, Delaware
Contract Length: 13 weeks (travel assignment)

Hours per Week: Approximately 36 hours (8 hours/day, 5 days/week, may include weekends)

Job Overview

• Provide post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgery.
• Patient types include orthopedic, gynecological, pediatric, vascular, ENT, C-section, gastrointestinal, and general surgery cases.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 RN to 2 patients.
• Floating may be required to Short Duration Surgery (SDS) or Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) units.
• Call shifts required approximately 4-5 times per 4-week period, including weekends and holidays.
• Use of RX Station medication system and EPIC electronic charting.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Delaware
• Minimum 2 years of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Additional Information

• Facility size: approximately 210 beds; PACU unit has 12 beds.
• Trauma level: Level III.
• Preferred shift length is 10 hours, but 12-hour shifts may be considered.
• Local area highlights include Lewes Beach, Rehoboth Beach and Boardwalk, shopping outlets, and restaurants.

Summary

This is a 13-week travel RN position in PACU requiring critical care experience, multiple certifications, and flexibility with shifts and call. The role involves caring for a diverse surgical patient population in a Level III trauma facility with a moderate-sized PACU unit.
