Overview

  • Role: Labor & Delivery RN
  • Location: Albany, Georgia
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Days
  • Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Georgia
  • Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience)
  • Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NRP
  • EFM
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Antepartum experience

Assignment Details

  • Unit: L&D
  • Beds: 12 labor beds, 5 antepartum beds, 2 ORs
  • Triage: OB emergency room with 6 beds
  • Patient mix: High risk OB to routine OB, with antepartum patients who may stay before going home or delivering
  • Birth volume: 150–200 births per month
  • Ratios: Follow AWHONN
  • Floating: As needed to postpartum
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • Call requirement: Contract does not take all call
  • Holidays: Rotate with permanent staff
  • Orientation: 2 shifts
  • Scrub color: Provided by hospital

  • FHM system: OB Trace
  • EMR: Meditech
  • Charge nurse: Yes, generally outside the staffing grid
  • Nurse aides / OB tech: OR techs serve as OB techs
  • Tele: None
  • Vents: None
  • OB/Neonatologist in house: Neonatology and OB hospitalist in house 24/7
  • IV team: No
  • RT 24/7: Yes
  • Pharmacy 24/7: Yes

Additional Notes

  • OR techs scrub for C-sections, attend vaginal deliveries, and do stocking
  • C-sections, cerclages, and tubals are performed on unit
  • Baby friendly hospital
  • Lactation support is available in house
