Registered Nurse - Med Surg

Location: Bowling Green, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Unit: Orthopedics and Medical-Surgical
• Beds: Ortho (30 beds), Med Surg (37 beds)
• Patient Ratios: Typically 6:1
• Staffing: Utilizes Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Skilled Nursing Externs (SNEs), and Unit Secretaries; Unit Secretary available during day shift
• Floating: May float to inpatient units, including Critical Care Unit (CCU) and Emergency Department (ED) for patient care and tasks
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling: Monthly increments (4 weeks); full-time requires 4 weekend shifts per month (e.g., 3 Saturdays and 1 Sunday)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Information

• Some bedside procedures may be performed by physicians; less common than in CCU or ED
• Dress code requires scrub top and bottoms; no fleece, hoodies, sweatshirts, sweaters, denim, or camo; long sleeve shirt or scrub jacket allowed under scrub top; no shoes with holes
