Farmington, New Mexico

Contract

Travel assignment
13 weeks
36 hours per week
Day shift, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Weekend and evening call required
May float to PreOp if endoscopy volume is low

Setting

Main endoscopy department
7-bed unit
Adult patients with mid to high acuity
1:2 patient ratio

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in New Mexico
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
BLS
ACLS
Endoscopy experience within the last year
Endoscopy (3 years of experience)
Intraprocedural technical experience

Required Skills / Procedures

Intraprocedure technical experience
Biopsy, including hot and cold
Savary dilation
Balloon dilation
Variceal banding
Therapeutic injection, polyp raising, and tattooing
Foreign body retrieval
Clip application
Snare, including hot and cold
Prechel pressure
ERCP cannulization
ERCP biliary duct dilation
ERCP lithotripsy
ERCP stent placement
ERCP sphincterotomy
ERCP balloon sweep
ERCP basket retrieval
ERCP injection of contrast
Endoscopic hemostat

Pros

Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.

Cons

It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
