Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN to provide care in a Level III trauma center with a 48-bed Emergency Department. The unit uses a team nursing and pod system and serves a diverse patient population including ESRD, cirrhosis, COPD, psychiatric, and substance abuse cases.
Shift Details
- Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum of two weekends per schedule
- Call Requirements: None
Unit Profile
- Trauma Level: 3
- Patient Ratios: 4:1 in Main ED, 6:1 in Fast Track
- Equipment: Zoll Defibrillator, Level One Blood Transfuser, QinFlow Blood Warmer, Hospira Plum360, Freestyle and iSTAT Point of Care testing, Ultrasound Guided IV
- Electronic Health Record: Cerner
Patient Population
- End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)
- Cirrhosis
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Psychiatric and Substance Abuse Disorders
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Common Diagnoses: Stroke, STEMI, Sepsis, Moderate Sedation cases, Abdominal Pain, Chest Pain
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license for New Mexico
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience (preferred)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- PALS (American Heart Association)
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course, AHA)

Pros
Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.
Cons
It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
