Registered Nurse (Pediatrics) - Travel Assignment

Location: Somerset, Kentucky
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Specialty: Pediatrics (newborn to 17 years)
• Unit: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) / Pediatrics Floor
• Facility Type: 295-bed acute care hospital with advanced cardiac and neurosurgery programs
• Patient Population: Pediatric patients, including newborns and children up to 17 years old
• Number of Beds on Unit: 8
• Patient Ratios: 3:1 or 4:1 depending on patient acuity
• Electronic Health Record (EHR) System: Meditech

Work Schedule

• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
• Weekend Requirement: 2 weekend shifts per month (Friday night and Saturday night count as weekends)
• Float Requirement: Yes, includes mother/baby well-baby unit

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
• Minimum 3 years of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Required Certifications prior to start:

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Clinical Experience & Skills

• Preferred experience in pediatrics with common diagnoses including:

  • Failure to thrive
  • Hyperbilirubinemia
  • Bronchiolitis, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)
  • Respiratory distress
  • Nausea/Vomiting (N/V)
  • Post-operative care for tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy (T&A)

Additional Information

• Orientation occurs weekly on Mondays
• Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel status
• Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs required
• Call requirements: Not specified
