Job Opportunity: RN Oncology Infusion Clinic - Adult

Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Registered Nurse (Direct Care)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

Under general supervision, provides nursing care to adult patients receiving oncology infusion treatments. Responsibilities include:

  • Administering chemotherapy drugs, PO and SC injections, and other medications as ordered by physicians.
  • Consulting with medical personnel and providing expert information about chemotherapy and side effects.
  • Documenting patient responses and changes in physician orders.
  • Assisting physicians during conscious sedation and minor diagnostic procedures.
  • Monitoring physiological data and intervening as necessary.
  • Initiating, regulating, and monitoring intravenous infusions and blood products.
  • Delivering competent patient care and communicating care plans to patients and families.
  • Providing chemotherapy-related education and answering patient/family inquiries.
  • Coordinating patient follow-up activities and referrals.
  • Delegating tasks to support staff as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma
  • Minimum of 1 year of infusion nursing experience, including infusion experience within the last year
  • Oncology nursing experience
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration certification
  • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
  • Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
  • Basic computer skills.
