2 North Med Surg

Role: RN (Registered Nurse)

Location

• Jackson, Mississippi

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts: 7p-7a
• 36 hours per week
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 2 weekends per month
• Holiday coverage required, including 2 major and 2 minor holidays
• Start date requirement: must start by 11/14

Unit Details

• Med/Surg 2N INFECTIOUS DISEASE
• 32 beds
• Current COVID unit that also takes med/surg overflow
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5 to 1:6, with adjustment for higher acuity patients

Required Qualifications

• ACLS
• BLS
• Level 1 trauma experience
• Experience at a larger facility with a lot of surgeries/high acuity patients
• Must be comfortable with lines and chest tubes

Preferred / Helpful

• Experience with block scheduling flexibility
• Open to weekenders

Clinical Responsibilities / Unit Expectations

• May titrate heparin drips
• May start amio and transfer the patient to the cardiac unit
• Patients are monitored on tele
• All staff float between all med/surg units within skillset

Additional Requirements

• Fingerprint processing required before start
• Solid-color professional scrubs in any color

Orientation

• First day includes paperwork, attestations, logins for Omnicell and Epic, unit tour, and scheduling discussion
• 2 additional shifts with a preceptor
