Schedule

12-hour night shifts
36 hours per week
Self-scheduling
Weekend requirement: every third weekend
Floating: may float to PCU and behavioral health

Assignment Length

13 weeks

Required Qualifications

Iowa or compact RN license
BLS certification
1 year of unit experience
Driver’s license required at submittal

Unit Details

Med Surg / Ortho
28 beds plus 22 overflow
Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
Charge nurse on each shift
Nursing assistants / patient care techs on the unit
Common patient population includes orthopedic, medical-surgical, respiratory, diabetic, wound care, infectious disease, behavioral health, and other acute care cases

Orientation

First week classroom orientation
Then 1 unit shift of 12 hours

Additional Notes

Pass/fail exam during orientation
Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
Candidates must be flexible and self-directed
