Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)

Job Description

• Schedule: Every Other Week (EOW), Every Other Holiday (EOH)
• Experience Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of Emergency Room nursing experience plus previous travel experience,
    OR
  • More than 5 years of experience in a large Emergency Department without travel experience
• Must be proficient with EPIC electronic health record system
• May be required to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within a 40-mile radius if needed

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license valid in Wisconsin
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications (all must be AHA-approved)
• NIH Certification (Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F updated every 2 years)
• Completion of specialty exams and competency checklists with minimum passing scores (including EKG exam, specialty exam, core competencies)
• Up-to-date Fit Test (3M 1860 Regular, 3M 1860 Small, or 3M 1870+), updated annually
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella (two vaccines or immunity verification; no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
  • Tdap valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • TB screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA with annual TB questionnaire; if positive, negative chest X-ray within 1 year required
• Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
• Professional verifications:

  • Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Employment verification for past 7 years
  • Criminal background check including SSN trace, OIG search, and National Sex Offender registry
  • At least two professional references
• Driver’s license or state ID (must not be expired and address must comply with licensing rules)
• Completion of onboarding requirements including nursing contract worker onboarding and education attestations
• Completion of Epic test-out and training checklist with signed attestation

Additional Information

• Prior travel experience is required (minimum 3 years ED + travel experience, or 5+ years ED without travel)
• Must be able to float within skill set and travel up to 40 miles to other sites if needed
• Must maintain all certifications and health requirements updated annually or as specified
• Must complete required assessments and checklists prior to and during assignment

This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Room RNs who meet the certification and immunization requirements and are comfortable working in a fast-paced, large ED environment with potential travel to nearby sites.
