Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health

Location: Fort Madison, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care and support for behavioral health patients during an Epic EMR system go-live.
  • Work at multiple campuses based on staffing needs.
  • Deliver care to patients and assist in monitoring, observing, and reporting reactions to treatments and behavioral changes.
  • Participate in the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation in coordination with the healthcare team.
  • Interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members while maintaining professional nursing standards.
  • Patient populations include Geriatric, Medical/Surgical, Adult, Psychiatric, Substance Abuse, and Detoxification.
  • Occasional on-call duties during low census periods; must be able to respond and arrive on-site within one hour if called.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Behavioral Health nursing experience.
  • Behavioral Health nursing experience within the last year.
  • Experience with Cerner electronic medical records system.
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical records system.

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

  • Professional license verification within 30 days of start.
  • Drug screen (9-panel, excluding THC) within 30 days of start.
  • Skills checklist completed within the last 12 months.
  • COVID-19 vaccine or declination accepted.
  • Immunizations or positive titers for MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap.
  • Negative TB test within the past year or appropriate documentation if history of positive test.
  • Fit test for approved respirators completed prior to start.
  • Health statement from a physician within the last 12 months.
  • Background check including SS trace and county search for the last 7 years within 30 days of start.
  • Adult and Child Abuse clearance as required by state.
  • Other professional and personal health documentation as required for onboarding.

Additional Information

  • Must have a current driver's license or state ID valid throughout the assignment.
  • Must complete pre-orientation computer-based learning acknowledgment.
  • Two professional references required, including one from a supervisor.
  • Resume or professional profile submission required.
  • May be required to complete OSHA questionnaire and other facility-specific compliance forms.
