Unit & Work Details
- 24-bed Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU (TCV ICU)
- Patient population includes cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical cases such as CABG, valve replacement/repair, heart transplantation, and lung transplantation
- Night shifts
- Scheduling: 36 or 48 hours offered; block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Maximum 40 hours allowed for time off
Licensure & Experience Requirements
- Virginia nursing license required (can submit with VA license pending)
- Must have experience with Epic electronic health record system
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Must adhere to facility float policy
Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume standard RN experience for ICU level care (minimum 1-2 years ICU experience recommended)

Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated every 30 days
- Education verification required (BSN preferred; ASN minimum)
- Official transcript acceptable; photocopy of diploma not accepted
- Drug testing within 2 months of start, updated annually (10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl)
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (no exemptions)
- 2-step TB test or equivalent (Qgold acceptable; Tspot not accepted)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer; no declinations)
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer (positive required or specific antigen testing)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or titer; declination requires documentation)
- Seasonal flu vaccination (no exemptions)
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Pass/Fail cardiac rhythm assessment during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions
- Professional appearance guidelines must be reviewed and acknowledged
- Various facility-specific forms and screenings to be completed prior to start
- Fit testing required for patient-facing clinical roles (completed onsite if needed)
Scheduling & Work Environment Notes
- Night shift position in a high-acuity ICU setting
- Block scheduling is not available; flexibility required
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage expected
- Float policy adherence required
