Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Kingsport, Tennessee
Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele and MS experience required)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule

• 7pm - 7am shifts
• 36/36 or 36/48 schedule (rotating)
• Every other weekend
• No call required
• Required to float

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in specialty
• Accepts first-time travelers (prior travel experience NOT required)

Certifications Required

• AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as applicable
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (PALS, NRP, TNCC) – check unit specifics

Orientation

• 16 hours of non-billable orientation
• General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs)
• Flexible start dates on Sundays upon completion of compliance documents

Additional Job Expectations

• Contract nurses expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background checks covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Education verification required
• Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check if licensed/certified in TN or working in TN
• State license primary source verification and NURSYS verification required
• Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
• Medication and competency exams as applicable
• Photo for badge within 48 hours of contract signing
• Facility-specific uniform and dress code guidelines must be reviewed
• Completion of contaminated sharps and body fluid exposure statement
• Smoking and tobacco use policy review
• Influenza vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
• Respirator medical evaluation questionnaire and clearance forms (time sensitive)
• CDC facial hair guidelines for respirator use must be reviewed

Health Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
• Respiratory fit mask testing completed onsite (previous fit tests not accepted)
• Immunizations or titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (vaccine or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or documentation of boosters
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella titer or documentation of boosters
• Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season

References & Skills

• 2 references accepted, 3 preferred
• Skills checklist required

Additional Notes

• Traveler must live within 100 miles of the facility
• Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
• Additional shifts beyond commitment may be flexed without penalty
