Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Abilene, Texas
Specialty: ICU / MS patient flow (ratios up to 1:5)
Facility Type: LTACH (Long-Term Acute Care Hospital)


Job Details

  • Contract Length: 8 weeks
  • Weekend Scheduling: Every other weekend (EOW)
  • Required Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Years of Experience Required: 2 years in ICU and IMC level care
  • Patient Care Focus: ICU and Intermediate Care (IMC) level care

Requirements & Compliance

  • Proof of I9 or Attestation
  • Government issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
  • Proof of E-Verify or Attestation
  • Residency Declaration Form (if working on a compact license)
  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal check within a year of start, updated annually
    • SS Trace, Counties, Nationwide, Sex Offender, Facis level 3
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
    • Texas Employee Misconduct Registry Results required
  • Certifications Verification:
    • ACLS, BLS (ARC, AHA, or US Department of Defense approved)
    • PALS, NRP, TNCC as required
    • State License Primary Source Verification
    • NURSYS verification for RNs
  • Competency Exams: Medication/Pharmacology and general competency exams as applicable
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA compliance)

Health & Safety Documents

  • Initial physical exam, updated annually
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year (or clear chest x-ray if past positive)
  • Immunizations or titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Drug Testing:
    • 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (instant acceptable)
    • 10-panel drug screen + Nicotine test within 10 days of start

History & Documentation

  • Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
  • Performance evaluations if worked over 1 year with the agency
  • Employment application/resume
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable unit
  • Internal evaluation if worked over 2 years with the agency

  • Local same pay for first-time travelers allowed
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
