Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist - Outpatient
Location: Valdez, Alaska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Start Date: ASAP
- Shift: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (5x8 Days)
- Guaranteed Hours: 70 hours per 2 weeks (may be called off for one 10-hour shift per 2 weeks)
- Setting: Critical Access Hospital, primarily outpatient with some inpatient and Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) coverage
- First Timers Accepted: Yes
- Locals Accepted: No (candidate’s permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility)
- Pending License Accepted: Yes

- Floating: No
- Block Schedule Accommodation: Yes
Required Experience & Skills
- Valid Physical Therapist license in Alaska (pending license accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapist experience within the last year
- Experience in Outpatient and Long Term Care settings
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Licensing & Certifications
- Must hold a valid Physical Therapist license for the state of Alaska (pending license accepted)
- BLS certification required
Housing & Transportation
- Housing provided: Typically 1-bedroom apartments, available no earlier than 72 hours before contract start and no later than 24 hours after contract end
- Pets are not allowed
- Housing typically accommodates only the traveler; additional family members require approval
- Housing must be cleaned upon departure or additional cleaning fees apply
- Vehicle provided: Company-owned rental vehicle shared among travelers, available same timeframe as housing
- Vehicle use limited to within 30-mile radius of facility and “around town” only; no off-road use
- Only the traveler may operate the vehicle; valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required
- Vehicle must be returned clean and with a full tank of gas
- If traveler takes time off, vehicle must be turned in and reissued upon return
- Optional tire chains available at additional cost
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (Alaska placements require both positive titer and vaccine series)
- Flu vaccine during flu season or signed declination
- COVID vaccine or signed declination
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use (travel only)
- Background checks including multi-state and federal databases, education verification, and employment history
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for advanced practice nurses/subcontractors)
- Skills checklists and competency exams as applicable
Training & Modules
- Completion of required regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via online learning platform (Workramp) prior to start and annually thereafter
- Modules include basics of trauma-informed care, specialty-specific competencies, and system regulatory requirements
- Badge photo required for identification
Additional Notes
- Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any related facility must have a minimum 3-month separation before working as a traveler
- Time off requests are approved on an individual basis after offer acceptance
- This position does not require floating to other units or facilities
- Housing and vehicle use policies are strictly enforced
