Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)
Location: Kingsport, Tennessee

Job Details
- Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3 shifts of 12 hours each per week)
- Schedule: 36 hours per week on a 36/36 rotation (36 hours on, 36 hours off)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Patient Ratio: 1:7
- Call: No call required
- Floating: Required to float to other units as needed
- Weekend Work: Every other weekend
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical and Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Orientation & Work Conditions
- General orientation begins on Sundays, including online compliance training (CBLs)
- Orientation includes 16 hours of non-billable time
- The hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
- Additional shifts beyond the contracted schedule may be offered as overtime and adjusted based on census needs
- Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical duties
Location & Housing
- Traveler must live within 100 miles of the facility
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years
- Education verification required
- Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required for those licensed or working in Tennessee
- Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug test within 14 days prior to start
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start (not annually)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titer or vaccination documentation
- Varicella titer or vaccination documentation
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test (2 PPDs within last 12 months or equivalent) or chest X-ray if previously positive
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 29 – Mar 31)
- Respirator medical clearance and fit testing completed onsite (must comply with CDC facial hair guidelines for respirator use)
- Photo for badge must meet specific standards (neutral background, no filters, no bulky jewelry, etc.)
Additional Notes
- Must complete facility-specific forms and acknowledge policies including dress code, smoking/tobacco use, contaminated sharps exposure, and influenza policy
- References: Minimum 2 references preferred, 3 recommended
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests required as applicable
- National certification verifications and primary source license verification required
