Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Oncology Clinic
Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (8:30 AM - 5:00 PM)
- Work Hours: 40 hours per week
- Float: Must be able to float to other facilities within the system
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum 3 years of Hematology/Oncology experience, including experience within the last year
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Chemotherapy (Chemo) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in an outpatient setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification
- Telephone triage nursing experience
- 2 years outpatient oncology experience
Certifications Required for This Role
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Chemotherapy (CHEMO) certification for oncology nursing
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) if applicable to unit (not explicitly required here but may be needed in ICU/Telemetry units)
- Pass/Fail Telemetry exam (required for nurses working in telemetry and critical care areas)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including criminal, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, sex offender, and education verification must be completed within 30 days of start
- Primary source verification of California RN license within 30 days of start
- Annual TB questionnaire and possible PPD testing as per facility policy
- COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended but not required
- Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required during flu season
- Completion of facility-specific learning modules prior to or on Day 1 of orientation
- Completion of cybersecurity awareness training and HIPAA training with passing scores
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) and other unit-specific certifications may be required depending on assignment
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete a physical exam and fit mask test within one year prior to start
- Fit testing can be done onsite as a last resort with prior appointment
- Candidates must complete a TB questionnaire and provide required immunization documentation before start
- Candidates must complete all required competency exams and training modules with passing scores before or shortly after start
- References and work history verification are mandatory for credentialing and onboarding
- Candidates must be prepared for a pass/fail telemetry exam on the first day of orientation (no calculators allowed)
- Ability to float to other facilities within the system is required
This position is ideal for experienced oncology RNs with strong clinical skills, certification in chemotherapy administration, and the ability to work in a fast-paced outpatient oncology clinic setting.
