Registered Nurse - GI Lab (Travel/Contract)

Location: West Hills, California
Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (08:00 - 16:30)
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide nursing care in the Gastrointestinal (GI) Lab, including Endoscopy procedures such as EGD, EUS, Colonoscopy, and ERCP.
• Able to perform recovery and PACU duties.
• Must be available for on-call coverage: 1-2 weekdays and at least 2 weekend calls (2-3 weekend days). Response time for on-call is 30 minutes.
• Floating between like units may be required based on facility needs.
• Charting is done in Epic.
• Scrub color and other unit-specific details will be provided.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
• Minimum 2 years of endoscopy nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Experience or ability to perform PACU recovery duties.

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License or government-issued photo ID.
• Background checks within 30 days of start, including:

  • Social Security Trace
  • 7-year National Criminal History Search (County searches)
  • National Sex Offender Search
  • FACIS Level 3 (includes OFAC)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG searches (annual requirement)
• Education verification: Diploma or official transcripts confirming BSN or MSN.
• NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start.
• Facility-specific documents to be completed prior to start, including:

  • HIPAA training and acknowledgment
  • Harassment Prevention Training (California mandated)
  • Confidentiality Agreement
  • Photo for badge (clear, recent, color headshot with neutral background)
  • Access Request Form (not required for RNs)
  • Pyxis Form (for RNs)
  • Abuse Reporting Acknowledgments (Elder, Child, Domestic)
  • Annual Education Module (OSHA training)
  • Online training modules including C-ICARE, Code of Conduct, Radiation Hazard Awareness, Safe Patient Handling, and Age Specific Training.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Negative QGold TB test within 1 year (Chest X-Ray if positive history)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declination accepted if signed within past year)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or proof of 2 vaccines; boosters required for low titers)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or completed vaccine series)
  • Varicella (positive titer or proof of 2 vaccines; boosters required for low titers)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine (required during flu season, with option to decline)
  • COVID vaccine or declination (must be received after 9/12/2023)
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (Aya requirement).
• References: 2 required, supervisor level or above, with at least one within the last year including dates of affiliation.
• Employment application covering last 7 years with explanations for gaps of 30+ days.
• Work history verification for last 5 years with explanations for gaps of 30+ days.

Additional Information

• Must be able to respond to on-call duties within 30 minutes.
• Floating to similar units may be required.
• Epic electronic medical record system used for charting.

This position is ideal for experienced GI RNs with a BSN who are comfortable with endoscopy procedures, on-call responsibilities, and weekend shifts in a hospital setting. First-time travel nurses are not eligible.
