Administrative Nurse Coordinator
Location: Brooklyn, New York
Shift: Night
Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Coordinate nursing services during evening and night shifts.
- Ensure adherence to nursing practice standards and patient care protocols.
- Apply management theory, labor relations knowledge, and hospital policies independently.
- Promote employee career development and teamwork.
- Communicate organizational information promptly to staff.
- Provide authority and resources for staff to take necessary actions.
- Participate in educational programs, workshops, and professional meetings.
- Use nursing research and evidence-based practice to drive quality improvements.
- Support nursing management education and professional development.
- Maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Implement hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory codes relevant to the department.
- Manage unit operations in collaboration with leadership.
- Conduct rounds to evaluate practice adherence and provide support and coaching.
- Assess patient safety measures including restraints, observation, falls, and risks.
- Investigate and resolve complaints, incidents, and problems.
- Manage staffing for current and upcoming shifts.
- Attend and monitor hospital codes, including documentation.
- Ensure nursing philosophy, scope of service, and ethical standards are met.
- Foster constructive team relationships and resolve conflicts positively.
- Report patient safety and shift issues for follow-up.
- Establish and monitor customer service improvement goals.
- Maintain departmental communication plans.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Care Coordinator, including experience within the last year.
- Experience in leadership roles.
- Knowledge of quality improvement (QI) philosophy, models, processes, and tools and their use in healthcare integrated settings.
- Knowledge of methods for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Certification in area of specialty.
