Medical Laboratory Scientist

Overview

• Location: Lafayette, Colorado
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 8-hour days/evenings, variable weekends
• Hours per week: 36

Required Qualifications

• Medical Lab Scientist (1 year of experience)
• Medical Lab Scientist experience within the last year
• MT(ASCP) or CLS(ASCP)
• Bachelor's degree
• Experience in a(n) Acute Care setting

Job Responsibilities

• Performs and interprets designated laboratory procedures
• Performs serologic, chemical, bacteriologic, immunohematologic (blood bank), and microscopic procedures
• Performs accurate and appropriate testing on laboratory specimens/collections according to laboratory protocol and procedures
• Troubleshoots instruments, equipment, reagents, and patient specimen/product problems
• Performs laboratory quality control and reports discrepancies
• Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and as-needed maintenance and calibrations on instruments and equipment
• Conducts verification tests on new products, instruments, and procedures
• Performs quality audit data collection and technical policy/procedure development
• Maintains workflow in the clinical laboratory, including work areas, supply stock, and inventory
• Assists in training and orientation of new associates
