Job Opportunity: CT Technologist

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

The CT Technologist performs computerized axial tomography procedures using various imaging equipment and contrast materials. Responsibilities include preparing and administering contrast material, acquiring and processing patient exams, and ensuring patient safety throughout the imaging process.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform CT procedures and assigned invasive procedures according to protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Independently perform multiplanar reformats and 3D rendered images.
  • Review cases with radiologists as appropriate.
  • Review labs and patient history to ensure correct exam performance.
  • Administer IV, oral, and rectal contrast when appropriate.
  • Recognize and respond to adverse or allergic reactions.
  • Screen patients for pregnancy and perform pregnancy testing if applicable.
  • Ensure safety of patients, visitors, and environment; report safety events immediately.
  • Assist in instruction of students and new staff as needed.
  • May perform duties of CT Lead or Imaging Coordinator in their absence.
  • Meet productivity levels as established by department benchmarks.
  • Assist other areas during downtimes to maintain productivity.
  • May perform duties in other modalities within the department if licensed/certified.
  • Comply with job descriptions of cross-trained modalities as applicable.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid CT Technologist license in Illinois
  • Minimum of 1 year of CT Technologist experience within the last year
  • ARRT (R) or NMTCB certification
  • ARRT (CT) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate's Degree in a related field or Certificate in Radiologic Technology

  • Secondary registries for cross-trained modalities are not required unless mandated by compliance or accrediting bodies.
