Registered Nurse - Ortho Inpatient

  • Day shift, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Job Description

  • Provide professional nursing care to orthopedic and medical/surgical patients using the nursing process.
  • Perform initial patient assessments upon admission and develop, implement, and modify individualized plans of care.
  • Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transitions.
  • Coordinate patient care with physicians and surgeons.
  • Delegate and monitor interventions performed by healthcare team staff.
  • Set up and manipulate orthopedic traction and surgical traction devices.
  • Manage wound appliances including wound vacs, drains, pouches, and other urological devices.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
  • Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
  • Participate in professional development and departmental competency requirements.
  • If applicable, complete annual education related to Hip and Knee Replacement Program requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • Minimum 1 year of orthopedic nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Trauma 1 listed by the facility
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system
