Med/Surg RN Travel - California, Fairfield

Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering safe, effective, and quality nursing care based on established nursing philosophies and models. The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care, collaborating with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to promote health and recovery. Care is tailored to the physiologic, developmental, and psychosocial needs of patients. The RN also advocates for patients, delegates tasks appropriately, and ensures culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards.

Contract Length

• 8 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of acute care experience
• Graduate from an accredited professional registered nursing program (Associate Degree or BSN accepted)
• Valid California RN License
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care consistent with interdisciplinary plans and Relationship Based Care principles
• Continuously assess patient physical and psychosocial conditions and formulate nursing diagnoses
• Develop and implement individualized care plans ensuring patient safety, comfort, hygiene, and disease prevention
• Educate patients and families on health treatments and care needs
• Evaluate care effectiveness and modify plans as necessary
• Demonstrate safe use of equipment, instrumentation, and medications
• Delegate nursing tasks based on legal scope and supervise care team members
• Advocate for patients’ rights and informed decision-making
• Coordinate patient care activities with healthcare team members
• Maintain documentation per policies and utilize information systems to enhance productivity
• Contribute to positive patient experiences and assist in complaint resolution

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physical duties including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills

Communication Skills

• Proficient written, verbal, and electronic communication skills required

Additional Information

• Completion of annual organizational employment requirements is mandatory
• Accountability for patient satisfaction and understanding the impact of personal behavior on patient experience
