Travel RN Opportunity – Labor & Delivery (L&D)

Location: Lewiston, Maine
Contract Length: 13 weeks

  • Services include Cardiovascular, Cancer, Orthopedic, Women’s & Children’s Health, and Primary Care

Unit Profile

  • Department: LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum)
  • Specialty: Labor & Delivery (L&D)
  • Number of Beds: 24
  • Patient Population: Neonates and Adults
  • Patient Ratios: 1:6 (census ranges from 3 to 24 patients)
  • Equipment: External Fetal Monitoring (EFM), IV pumps
  • Electronic Health Records: Cerner, Powerchart, Omnicell Med System

Position Details

  • Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (3x12-hour shifts), rotating shifts with self-scheduling
  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
  • Call Requirements: Yes
  • Float Requirements: No
  • Number of Openings: 1
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2+ years in L&D, LDRP, and postpartum care
  • No first-time travelers accepted

Required Certifications

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • AWHONN Intermediate (preferred)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience managing a 3-couplet assignment
  • Triage of obstetrical patients
  • Use of External Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
  • Start and maintain peripheral IVs
  • Administer antihypertensives and insulin drips
  • Assist with vaginal deliveries and recover C-sections
  • Perform APGAR scoring and newborn assessments
  • Baby nurse duties including “baby catcher,” cord sample collection, ID/security banding, radiant warmers, and thermoregulation
  • Epidural anesthesia pain assessment and management
  • Postpartum care and procedures for mother and baby

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in Level 1 Nursery
  • Mother/Baby care
  • Circulating for C-sections

  • No pre-approved time offer per contract
  • Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
