Registered Nurse – Emergency Center

Location: Albany, Georgia
Contract Length: 17 weeks
Shift: Evenings
Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week

Job Overview

Seeking experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses with larger hospital experience for a 17-week contract. The role involves working in a high-volume emergency department with approximately 180-200 patient visits per day.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of Emergency Center nursing experience
• At least 1 prior travel assignment completed
• Current RN license in good standing
• Certifications required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) or ASLS (Advanced Stroke Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – mandatory for all travelers
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
• Experience with Meditech EMR system (version 6.15) is mandatory
• Valid driver’s license with address verification required for consideration

Work Environment & Team

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
• Charge nurse and nurse aides/paramedics available (5-6 per shift)
• Security and patient sitters present for safety, especially in behavioral lockdown area (6-bed psych unit staffed by psychiatric personnel)
• Respiratory therapists available 24/7 to manage ventilated patients held in the ER
• Pharmacy services available on campus 24/7, with in-department coverage 11 hours daily
• Central monitoring techs for telemetry/monitoring support
• Floor-specific orientation provided (2 shifts)

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

• Care for patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics
• Trauma cases accepted, with some neuro trauma and orthopedic cases retained; burn cases are not treated here
• Designated as a stroke (CVA) center

Scheduling & Other Details

• Weekend work required every other weekend
• Holiday shifts required every other holiday
• Scrub color: Caribbean Blue only
• Nurses responsible for lab draws and IV starts
• Auto lunch deductions apply for 3p-3a shifts
• Expectation to complete orientation and readiness training (ORT) during the first week; extensions require prior approval from Emergency Center leadership

This position is ideal for Emergency Room RNs with strong critical care skills, trauma experience, and prior travel nursing assignments who are comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
