Labor & Delivery RN

Overview

• Location: Show Low, Arizona
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 3 twelve-hour night shifts per week
• Hours: 36 per week
• Start date: ASAP
• Orientation: Every Monday
• Weekend requirement: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule minimum
• Floating: May float to ED or MS if experienced; may also float to other units, usually MedSurg
• Call: One shift per 4-week schedule

Required Qualifications

• Active AZ or compact RN license
• ACLS
• BLS
• NRP
• Intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring
• At least 3 years of experience
• C-section experience
• Proficiency in fetal monitoring and response to fetal distress
• Ability to care for patients with pre-eclampsia
• Clinical background in high-risk patients
• Ability to handle OB emergencies until the provider arrives
• Ability to function in L&D and couplet care

Unit Details

• 7 L&D beds
• 2 triage beds
• 10 postpartum beds
• 1–3 births per day
• About 830 births per year
• Typical ratio: 1:2
• OB/neonatologist not in house
• 24/7 pharmacy in house
• Respiratory therapist in unit 24/7
• Support staff includes Patient Care Technician and Health Unit Secretary
• OB scrub tech and HUC support noted on unit
