Shift Details

- Hours per shift: 12 hours (06:45 PM - 07:15 AM)
- Hours per week: 36 hours
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week period
- Holiday requirement: Some holidays required
- Self-scheduling available with some flexibility requested
- On-call/standby shifts possible due to low census
Job Description
- Medium-sized hospital setting
- Fast-paced unit with high turnover
- Must be willing to care for COVID-19 patients
- Magnet-designated facility with stroke and bariatric certifications
- Overtime allowed and opportunities to precept
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1+ years of experience in Ortho/Neuro/Surgical nursing
- Current RN license
- BLS Certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) competency
- Experience managing drips including Heparin, Ketamine (set rate), antibiotics, and blood products
- IV management skills for frequent treatments
- Prior telemetry reading experience preferred (unit has telemetry monitors and monitor techs)
Orientation & Training
- Unit-specific orientation: 2-3 shifts during the first week
Staffing & Support
- Charge Nurse available as a resource, starts 1 hour before shift and typically not assigned patients
- CNA ratios typically 1:8-12; some CNA II staff assist with IV and Foley removal
- Respiratory therapy equipment used includes BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannulas
Floating Requirements
- May float to Medical, Medical Oncology, and Telemetry units (cardiac drips administered on these units)
Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs with facility logo required
Additional Information
- Nurses are provided with phones and trackers for communication and patient monitoring
