Radiation Therapist (Temp) - Washington, DC
Position Overview
- Full-time temporary position, 12-hour day shift, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week
- Weekend call possible
- Must live within 50 miles of the work location
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver daily radiation treatments to patients under the direction of a radiation oncologist
- Collaborate with radiation oncologists and physics personnel for simulation and treatment calculations
- Perform daily warm-up and quality assurance on treatment machines and CT simulators
- Educate patients and their families about radiation treatment processes to alleviate fears and misconceptions
- Ensure accurate and complete data transfer for dose calculations and treatment planning
- Follow standard treatment protocols and ensure all processes are signed off by the radiation oncologist (e.g., Isodose Plans, lab and radiology results, dictations)
- Operate equipment including:
- Linear Accelerator
- CT Simulator
- ADAC Treatment Planning System
- VARIS System
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Radiation Therapy preferred
- ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy (RTT) required
- Certification as a Medical Radiologic Technologist by the Department of State Health Services required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a radiation therapist with RTT credential
