Job Description
- Must have at least 1 year of experience in Adult Critical Care, PICU, and NICU settings.
- Responsibilities include:
- Providing quality patient care in accordance with clinical guidelines and policies.
- Performing blood gas lab procedures and diagnostic testing.
- Obtaining, analyzing, and recording blood gas results.
- Quality control and preventative maintenance on blood gas equipment.
- Managing mechanical and non-invasive ventilation.
- Acting as a consultant to nursing, ancillary, and medical staff regarding respiratory care.
- Recommending plans of care to improve patient outcomes.
- Educating patients, families, staff, and physicians.
- Assisting with advanced procedures such as intubations, bronchoscopy, and tracheostomy.
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Current Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license.
- BCLS certification.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
- BLS (Basic Life Support).
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
- ALS (Advanced Life Support).
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of specialty experience in Adult Critical Care, PICU, and NICU.
- Prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 6 months, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
- Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service.
- I9 and E-Verify documentation required.
- Education verification and accreditation confirmation as applicable.
- Physical exam within 6 months of start, signed by DO, MD, NP, APRN, or PA.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
- Annual fit mask test with approved mask models (3M 1860 Regular or Small).
- Required immunizations and/or proof of immunity:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer).
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination.
- Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or declination).
- Negative TB test (QuantiFERON lab only) within 6 months or chest X-ray if prior positive.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).
- COVID vaccination preferred (for tracking purposes).
- Annual TB questionnaire.
- State-specific fingerprinting (Florida AHCA Level II) required for clinical professionals.
- Two professional references from within the last 2 years.

- Stroke and Stroke Core Measures Review
- Nurses' Guide to Safely Administering IV Medication
- End of Life Module
- Procedural Sedation Adults and Pediatrics Course
- Compressed Gas Cylinder Safety Course (for OR and Perioperative areas)
- Formaldehyde Course (for OR and Perioperative areas)
- Laser Safety Module (OR Nurses only)
- PPE Donning and Doffing for COVID-19 Module and Attestation (Nursing and Respiratory)
Additional modules may be required depending on the role and unit.
Additional Notes
- Badge photo required (passport-style, white background, color photo).
- All certifications must be current and not expire within 30 days of the start date.
- Candidates must comply with all facility policies and complete required documentation prior to start.
This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists with NICU and PICU expertise seeking a travel contract in Florida.
