Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Lancaster, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Patient Ratio: 1:6 to 1:7
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
On-Call: No
Floating: Required to float within scope to like units with similar patients

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit.
• Must have Med/Surg experience.
• Telemetry experience preferred, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
• Attendance at staff meetings is required.
• Must complete all assigned orientation and training modules prior to start date.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina.
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
• One completed travel assignment.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• ACLS certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Facility & Work Environment

• Short-term acute care hospital with 97 staffed beds.
• Electronic health record system: Epic.
• Scrub color: Royal Blue.
• Free parking available.
• Local candidates considered.

Scheduling & Policies

• Block schedule accommodation requests possible but not guaranteed.
• Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks.
• After 2 undocumented call-outs per contract, contract may be canceled.

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug test within 90 days of start.
• Physical exam within 1 year, attesting ability to meet physical demands.
• Immunizations and titers required or acceptable declinations for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccines)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella (positive titer or vaccines)
• Negative TB test (T-spot, Q-Gold, or 2-step PPD) within 90 days of start; follow-up required if positive.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 - Mar 31).
• COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form.

Documentation & Onboarding

• Must provide:

  • Copy of Driver’s License or State ID
  • Social Security Card or SSN verification
  • Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
  • Complete employment application/resume
• Required to upload a clear, passport-style photo for badge.
• Must sign various facility-specific agreements and acknowledgments prior to start (e.g., Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, HIPAA Attestation).
• Completion of orientation modules (~2 hours) on a computer before starting orientation is mandatory.
• Radiation badge required only for specific roles (not applicable here).

Additional Notes

• During hurricane season (June-November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams.
• Local radius for travel assignments is 60 miles.
• Facility uses Epic for charting.
• Modules and training access provided before start date; failure to complete modules results in being sent home.
