Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Pulmonary Function
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (No weekends)
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Position Overview
- Role focused on Pulmonary Function testing within Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics specialty.
- Must have documented pulmonary function lab experience in work history.
- No on-call responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- RPFT (Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist) certification
Orientation & Onboarding
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly.
- Must set up a facility-specific Guest Account prior to clearance to access necessary systems for orientation and work.
- Completion of required online modules before orientation.
- Competency exams and unit-specific training required during orientation.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Candidates must provide and maintain up-to-date documentation including but not limited to:
Background Checks
- Comprehensive background check within 90 days of start, covering all counties lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 90 days of start.
- Education verification confirming graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care program.
- OFAC sanctions list search within 30 days of start.
Health & Immunizations
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- Up-to-date vaccinations or immunity documentation for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required every 10 years, no exemptions)
- Polio vaccine or signed attestation.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 9 – Apr 1), no exemptions.
- Fit mask (N95 or equivalent) within 12 months of start.
- Negative 10-panel drug test (including THC) within 30 days of start.
Employment History & References
- Employment application with 7 years of work history.
- Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months; at least one must be a supervisor.
Additional Requirements
- Annual updates for skills checklist and TB questionnaire.
- Completion of competency exams and unit-specific competency checklists within 3 weeks after start.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card training provided onsite if not already held.
Additional Notes
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous assignments at this facility may have some documentation requirements waived or accepted on file.
- Candidates must confirm Guest Account setup before being placed in “Awaiting Clearance” status.
- No weekend shifts or on-call duties.
- Local candidates within 75 miles may receive a different rate (not disclosed here).
