Registered Nurse – Long-Term Care (Travel/Contract)

Location: Vestal, New York
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night shift, 8-hour shifts (22:45–7:15), 5 days per week, 40 hours total
  • Shift Change: Shift cannot be changed once offered
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required upon facility request
  • Patient Population: Alzheimer's & Dementia patients in a 300-bed long-term care facility
  • Staff Ratios: Approximately 1 nurse to 18-20 residents
  • First-Time Travelers: Accepted
  • Locals Accepted: Yes

Required Qualifications

  • Active New York State RN license (hard copy required at submission; no license hits allowed)
  • Minimum 1 year of Long-Term Care (LTC) experience; recent experience in rehab, med-surg, or hospital settings may be considered
  • BLS certification (accepted from any recognized entity; online-only courses acceptable)
  • Ability to pass medication administration test and clinical observation
  • Strong attendance, punctuality, and dependability
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be flexible with scheduling
  • Government-issued photo ID (front copy) required
  • Must complete facility-required Relias training modules prior to assignment start, including medication administration exam with a passing score of 90% (unlimited retakes allowed)

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Perform medication passes accurately and safely
  • Monitor and report changes in resident condition
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation
  • Provide nursing care according to facility policies
  • Supervise CNAs on assigned units

Additional Requirements & Compliance

  • No shift or time-off (RTO) changes allowed after offer acceptance; RTO must be approved at submission
  • Call-outs require more than 24 hours’ notice
  • Compliance and onboarding process takes approximately 1.5–2 weeks
  • Facility attire: Any solid color scrubs and closed-toe shoes
  • Charting system: PCC (Point Click Care) – no submission required from nurse
  • Free parking available; no mileage reimbursement
  • Must complete annual background checks, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks
  • Required health documents include: physical exam, negative TB test or chest X-ray, flu vaccine or declination, COVID-19 vaccination or declination, pneumonia vaccination or declination, and other immunizations as applicable (measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, varicella)
  • Drug screening required for direct candidates (negative 9-panel within 1 year)
  • Fingerprinting required for CNAs (not applicable for RN role)
  • Two professional references required within 2 years of start date
  • Must complete harassment prevention training and other facility-specific certifications as applicable
