Registered Nurse - Pediatric OR (Travel/Contract)
Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Assignment Length: 12 weeks
Shift: Day (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) or Evening (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM), 5 shifts per week, 8 hours per shift
Weekends: As needed per unit
Call: No
Job Description
- Provide family-centered nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents in a surgical setting.
- Utilize the nursing process to coordinate and deliver care.
- Accountable for independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Minnesota.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatrics Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Perioperative nursing experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Certifications (as applicable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CEUs as required by state regulations
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 1 year prior to start, including:
- SSN trace
- 7-year county and nationwide criminal searches
- National sex offender registry check
- FACIS level 3 check
- Education verification with degree, field of study, and completion date clearly listed.
- Minnesota DHS NetStudy Fingerprint clearance required prior to start (candidates must complete the DHS Net Study Questionnaire immediately after signing contract).
- Employment application required.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start, documenting ability to work without restrictions (Concentra form or equivalent accepted).
- Fit testing for 3M 1870+ N95 mask within 12 months prior to start (other masks or onsite fit testing may be approved case-by-case).
- Immunizations or documented immunity required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (immunity or vaccination series or signed declination)
- Varicella
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot) within 1 year of start; if past positive, must have clear chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire.
- Seasonal influenza vaccination or signed declination form (masking required if declined).
- Drug screening within 1 year prior to start (9-panel minimum).
Additional Notes
- Orientation start dates are flexible, with preferred start as soon as possible around late July or early August.
- No prior travel experience is explicitly required.
