Operating Room RN

Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Charleston, West Virginia
• 13-week assignment
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Day shift: 3x12 hours, 6:45 AM–7:15 PM
• Every other weekend call
• On-call required
• First-timers accepted if experience requirements are met
• Weekend work required

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in West Virginia
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Driver's License
• 2 years of Operating Room RN experience
• Operating Room experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Circulate experience in the operating room
• Scrub experience in the operating room
• Cardiac surgery experience
• Proficiency in vein harvesting
• Proficiency in radial artery harvesting
• General surgery experience including colorectal and colon resections
• General surgery experience including laparoscopic assisted surgeries
• General surgery experience including Whipple procedures
• General surgery experience including liver resections
• General surgery experience including thyroid procedures
• Flu shot required unless a documented medical exemption is approved
• Tdap vaccination given after age 11
• Negative TB test within 3 months of start, or negative chest X-ray if TB positive
• Drug screen within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit testing before start
• MMR, Varicella, and Hepatitis B immunity/vaccination requirements
• COVID-19 vaccination is not mandatory

Skills and Clinical Experience

• Vascular procedures, including AV fistulas/grafts, aortic surgeries/bypasses, femoral to popliteal or distal bypasses, carotids, and embolectomies
• Ortho procedures, including arthroscopies and total joints
• General surgery procedures, including colorectal/colon resections, laparoscopic assisted surgeries, Whipples, liver resections, thyroids, and mastectomies
• ENT procedures, including trachs, laryngectomies, and radical neck dissections
• Urology procedures, including cystectomies, nephrectomies, prostatectomies, various implants, and cysto-related procedures
• Robotics procedures, including gyn, colorectal, hernias, and lap Nissens
• GYN procedures, including abdominal/vaginal hysterectomies and posterior/anterior repairs

Schedule and Call

• 1 day of call per week
• 1–2 weekend call shifts per 4–5 week schedule
• 30-minute response time when on call

• Operating Room
• Average daily census: 22 cases
• Short-Term Acute Care facility
• Level IV Trauma Center
• Major teaching hospital
• 838 staffed beds

Additional Notes

• Scrub color: Royal Blue or White, or a combination of both
• Cerner and Accudose are used for charting
• Free parking for travelers
