NICU / Special Care Nursery RN

Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Clinton, Maryland
• 13-week assignment
• Day shift: 3x12, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
• Locals within 60 miles are accepted at a lower rate
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Maryland
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
• NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
• STABLE
• Experience with High Flow O2, CPAP, Bubble CPAP, and Mechanical Ventilation
• Experience with central line management
• Peripheral IV insertion skills
• Experience with lab draws
• Experience with administration of IV antibiotics
• Knowledge of apnea and bradycardia related to the pre-term infant
• Stabilization of newborns less than 32 weeks and preparation for transport to a Level III facility
• Experience with thermoregulation in the pre-mature infant and full-term infant related to passive cooling
• Experience with neonatal resuscitation
• Experience with BD Alaris Smart Pumps

Unit Details

• Special Care Nursery is a Level II unit
• The unit focuses on monitoring and maintaining cardiopulmonary, neurologic, metabolic, and thermal stability
• May assist with specialized procedures such as lumbar puncture and endotracheal resuscitation of newborns 32 weeks or greater
• Must be proficient in:

  • Respiratory support via High Flow O2, CPAP, Bubble CPAP, and Mechanical Ventilation
  • Management of Central Lines
  • Peripheral IV insertions
  • Lab draws
  • Administration of IV antibiotics
  • Stabilization of newborns less than 32 weeks and preparation for transport to a Level III facility
  • Thermoregulation in pre-mature and full-term infants related to passive cooling
  • Neonatal resuscitation
  • Point of Care Blood Glucose Measurement
  • BD Alaris Smart Pumps
