Job Opportunity: Medical Physicist
Location: Salem, Oregon
Employment Type: Locum Tenens - 1099
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a full-service radiation oncology department with two Varian linac machines.
- Patient load: approximately 65 patients per day, primarily outpatient (95%).
- Utilize Varian Aria and Eclipse EMR systems.
- Perform all types of chart checks, daily and monthly QA on Varian TruBeam linacs.
- Hospital-based Radiation Oncology clinic setting.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiation Therapist license in Oregon
- Minimum of 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- ABR board certification in therapeutic medical physics
Skills & Competencies
- Highly proficient with Varian TruBeam linacs and ARIA system.
- Ability to perform daily and monthly quality assurance on radiation machines.
Travel & Logistics
- Travel and lodging expenses covered by the client.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Clear copy of valid driver’s license, passport, or state ID.
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start (7-year search).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and ongoing every 30 days.
- Physical exam within one year of start (can start with pending physical).
- Drug testing (10-panel) within 90 days of start.
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella antibody titers or vaccinations
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination
- Varicella antibody titer or vaccinations
- Seasonal flu vaccine or signed declination (year-round)
- Badge photo with white background required at least 8 days prior to start.
- Completion of required HealthStream modules by due date.
- Competency exams as applicable.

- No ACLS, BLS, or other clinical certifications required for this position.
- No prior travel experience explicitly required.
- References: 2 references within last 2 years showing 1 year in comparable specialty, with at least one supervisory reference within last 12 months.
This position is ideal for a board-certified therapeutic medical physicist with experience in radiation oncology and proficiency with Varian systems seeking a locum tenens opportunity in a hospital-based outpatient setting.
