Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:45 AM – 5:15 PM)
Hours per Week: 40

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist with experience in respiratory and neuro diagnostics for a Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center. This is a travel/contract position requiring specialized skills and certifications.

Required Qualifications

• Licensure: Nebraska state license preferred to have in hand before start (licensing process takes 6-8 weeks; start date may be adjusted accordingly).
• Certification:

  • CRT required
  • RRT preferred
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required (AHA standards)
• Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in respiratory therapy
  • At least 1 year of experience at a large (>500 bed) Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Charting: Epic charting experience preferred
• Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required)

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
• Background check within 30 days of start, including multi-county and nationwide checks
• SAM and OIG checks within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
• Education verification and high school diploma required
• Primary source verification of state license prior to start
• Annual skills checklist required
• Two professional references from work within the past 2 years (one from most recent employer if not currently traveling)

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (3M 1860 Small/Regular or 3M 1870+)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tdap/Tetanus vaccine within last 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with TB questionnaire if history positive, updated annually
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (measles, mumps, rubella) with boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B titer required or declination acceptable
  • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
• Drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually (urine panel including multiple substances)
• Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
• COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemption or declination accepted

Additional Requirements

• Locals not accepted; candidate must reside more than 100 miles from the facility
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
• Various state-specific registry and abuse/neglect checks required within 30 days of start
• NIH Stroke Certification and medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable
• Color blind testing required for all candidates
• Eye exam required only if working in the OR (not applicable for this role)

• Facility is a large, 718-bed acute care hospital with a focus on complex patient care and academic research
• Parking permits available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates apply
• Start date may be adjusted based on licensing timeline
