Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Job Summary
Seeking experienced Registered Nurses for a high-risk, high-acuity Labor and Delivery unit. The role involves working night shifts in a fast-paced environment with a focus on maternal and newborn care, including postpartum and antepartum float responsibilities.
Work Schedule
- Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
- Work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Schedule posted every 6 weeks to meet unit needs
Unit Details
- High Risk/High Volume Labor & Delivery with approximately 500-600 deliveries per month
- 31 beds and rooms, 4 operating rooms
- Patient diagnoses include midwifery clients, private OBs, adult recovery services for substance recovery, and community care clinics
- Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
- Use of EPIC electronic health records and electronic fetal monitoring required
Key Responsibilities
- Function as Baby Nurse during delivery and provide newborn care until transfer to postpartum
- Circulate in the OR (hard stop requirement)
- Provide newborn care including eye care, Vitamin K injections, thigh assessments
- Administer medications such as Heparin, Insulin, Magnesium Sulfate
- Float to postpartum/antepartum and sister facilities providing Mother/Baby care
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- At least one completed travel assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in supervisory roles
- Minimum 3 years experience working in high acuity and high pace environments
- Experience with EPIC electronic health records
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
- 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Respirator fit testing (annual, travel only)
- Background checks including multi-state and Washington-specific searches, education verification, and employment history verification
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
- Completion of required WorkRamp training modules and facility-specific regulatory and specialty modules prior to start and annually thereafter
- Float policy acknowledgment required
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be able to float to related units and sister facilities as needed
- Pre-approved time off is considered on a case-by-case basis
- EPIC training and electronic fetal monitoring certification are mandatory
- This position requires working in a high-volume, high-acuity environment with a focus on maternal and newborn care
