Contract Length

• 18 weeks

Shift

• 12-hour day shifts

Schedule

• Every other weekend
• Minimum of 2 holidays during the contract
• Self-scheduling is available for core staff; travelers are added in
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed
• Upfront requested time off is limited to 7 days or less per 13-week period, and additional time off will not be approved

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Driver’s license required at submittal
• Must be outside the 50-mile radius
• Cannot be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity

Clinical Details

• ICU setting with 33 beds and an average daily census of 16
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2-3 for adults
• Common patient types include trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance use, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress
• RNs are required to titrate drips, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
• RNs may need to troubleshoot respiratory equipment from nasal cannula to ventilator
• RNs are required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips
• Floating may occur to PCU and occasionally MedSurg, typically at ratios of 1:4 or 1:5
• Nurse aides are available based on census

Orientation

• 1 unit-specific orientation shift
• RN candidates must pass an open-book orientation exam with a score of 90% or higher

Other Notes

• Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
• If called back in while on call, arrival is required within 30 minutes
• Duos are not accepted if they want the same schedule or share a car
