Overview

• Role: L&D RN
• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Contract length: 15 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights
• Weekly hours: 36

Unit Details

• Department: L&D
• Beds / rooms: 9 LDR procedure rooms; 2 OR suites for C-sections; 1 PACU; 6 L&D triage rooms; 18-bed antepartum unit; 36 postpartum private rooms

Required Qualifications

• Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• NRP
• ACLS
• Completed advanced AWHONN EFM class
• Minimum 2 years of L&D experience preferred by the source as a minimum
• Proficiency in care of high-risk OB patients
• Ability to care for Magnesium drips and Insulin drips
• Ability to circulate a cesarean section in OR and recover the patient in PACU
• Proficiency in baby care at both vaginal and cesarean delivery
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Negative drug screen required

Preferred

• Minimum of 2 years experience in L&D

Schedule and Staffing

• 12-hour shifts on both day and night
• Block scheduling allowed to the best of the unit’s ability for travelers
• Every 3rd weekend
• Every other holiday
• No call
• Charge nurse is present 24/7 and does not take a patient assignment
• House supervisor is present 24/7

Floating

• Floats to Postpartum and Antepartum only

Clinical Environment

• High-risk pregnant patients
• Vaginal deliveries, cesarean deliveries, and cerclage placement
• 1:1 Pitocin induction and active labor
• 2 RN to 1 patient at vaginal delivery and cesarean section
• 1 RN to 1 patient in PACU
• 1 RN to 3 patients in L&D triage
• Labor hospitalist in house 24/7
• Newborn hospitalists in house daily
• NICU coverage at night for emergencies
• No vents outside of L&D OR; patients needing ventilatory support are transferred to ICU
